Hello,

I've applied to join the club and I'm waiting to see whether I'll be successful.

The web pages say that I'll need to enter three races as a member of the club to earn a club vest. I was wondering whether there's a simple answer to explain what type of races they will need to be? For example, would it just be races I had to pay to enter, and where the results are published on the internet, or are there other criteria?

Regards.

Michael

Hi Michael. Well to the club! You don't have to wait to be told you are successful, if you fill in the membership form and pay your money you are a member (Welsh athletics will then process your details and you will get a registration number) . Al Jones is the membership secretary and he will happily take your money and sort out all this for you. As for the races that you do I would pick three races and let us know your results and then when we see you we can make sure you get your vest, via John Griffin our chairman and holder of vests. Phil Cook is the mens captain and is at parkrun most (if not all Saturdays) and if you are there you could always ask him any more questions you want to ask.
Again welcome to les croups and good luck with your running.

Claire,

Thank you for replying so quickly. I'm grateful for the information.

I'm not much of a runner - just starting, really - but I hope to improve with a bit of effort.

Best wishes.

If you're new to the wonderful world of running then Phil's Cardiff Summer Series is a good one to target - see here for details and dates.

There's a good selection of races on our club championships list to keep you busy, and joining in those, plus parkrun and the club's Thursday night run is the best way to meet everyone.

Make sure you add Les Croupiers to your parkrun profile, as we're sent those times to add to our results database.

Amanda,

Thank you for the information. I've just had a look at the Summer Series and the Club Championship races and I think it would be a good introduction to running in races if I were to enter some of them. I've run in a Park Run already in 2014, so I hope that means I'm some of the way to winning the club championship already. That was a joke.

Many thanks.

Michael

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but...

Would 2x parkruns (as club member), CSS 1 mile and the Castles 10 mile be enough to get me one of those lovely vests?!

I felt a bit out of place in my day glo green on Sunday!

Yes Nick, congratulations on earning yourself a Les Croupiers vest. Ask to see John Griffin at the club on Thursday for it.
