Just signed up for the Cardiff half marathon and need to start getting some training in. If anyones interested I'll be using Cafe Castan Sunday sessions for my long runs. I'm following a training programme (optimistically) aiming for a sub 1:30 time but more than happy to adapt pace if it means running with someone.

This Sunday's session I'll be doing:
• Run, easy pace, 80 minutes.
• Run, half marathon pace, 40 minutes.

Anyone aiming for a similar time?

Thank you, David. The Café Castan Sunday run is now a well established key training session for everyone. Numbers do vary due to racing and other commitments, but usually there's a spectrum of runners simply enjoying the company and extra motivation that shared training brings.
Some of our members are now beginning to look towards an autumn marathon and are extending their long run accordingly. For others, 12 miles is plenty, and the group does tend to split into small numbers of compatible ability.
A good idea is to share your expectations for your run before the start - we don't like anyone, particularly newbies to train alone if at all possible. I'm sure there'll be someone at the session that you can at least run the majority of your session with.
I don't anticipate being at the session this weekend, due to competing in the Night of Endurance on Saturday evening, but look forward to meeting up with you soon.

I'll be there on Sunday to do 20 or so miles at 8:30ish min/mile. Sorry Dave, but I don't think I'll be doing a 1:30 half marathon pace :). Especially as I'm also participating in the Night of Endurance the evening before. See you Sunday maybe. I'm sure there'll be others out also.

I am thinking of doing a 12 miler in the morning. I booked the Cotrell Park 10km but feel
an easy long run might be a better option now.

Been training really hard and feel I may have over reached a bit. I think it is key to listen to your body and act accordingly. I may just aim to get myself fit and firing for The Race of Truth on Thursday.

If you train too hard and race too much you will go stale or worse! Best to be proactive and remain consistent!
