I see this facility to advertise Café Castan on a Sunday morning has been sparingly used since last winter when I posted every week, so it's about time it got restarted.
Let's not forget that this forum is viewed by loads of runners outside of our club, and any opportunity to advertise what Croups has to offer can only be good.
I intend to dip my toe in the water and run on a Sunday morning (making it 4 sessions in a week). Easy run on the "Summer Route" up to the motorway and back, staying on roads and running on as flat and even surfaces as I can find. Hope to see some of you there.
To all of you competing tomorrow, Gwent League, Wokingham Half etc. good luck. Why not post your experiences on the forum as not everyone uses facebook.

Remember this from Thursday night?

Thank you David for that talk it was needed. I felt a little lost when I came out of the changing rooms and found that some people had already gone. But I'd like to say it goes further that then Thursday eveings. Phill and aload of other people have put alot of effort into the club and orgainising races over the years so when they ask something of us it's only fair that we do it. If you find can't do something that you said you would do then let them know as sooon as possible so if something has to be rearrange it can be done (oboviously sometimes you can't do this you make plans but life happens! John Lennon). Also if you can help in any way with something this would be really appricated after all it is everyone club!

This club is suffering from a collective dose of amnesia. No: 1 - it's bad enough that no one bothers to use the Forum to post their training intentions on a Sunday. So the reason that I did use it was to share a Sunday morning with members - I'd missed you! Seemingly, the feeling wasn't mutual, as when I was parking my car I saw you all leaving! Yes, I was a few minutes late, but that's why I posted. Cast your minds back one year when I was a regular - I would ask who's doing what distance. I'd make sure everyone had someone to run with. I'd ask if anyone had posted their intentions to come so we could wait a few minutes (as parking can be tricky). It didn't happen this morning did it - and yes, I asked one of the group. I don't bear grudges. These things happen. It's no one person's fault. But it is a collective responsibility.

The weather was tough this morning. But, of course, it's endurance season. Loads of people are out running, and yes, I talk to as many runners as I can. I see every runner as a potential Croups member, and I do advertise what we offer at every opportunity. But I can't fight this battle on my own. I think you all know what I mean.

To finish this message on a positive note, which I always try to do, one runner I saw was Chris Gildersleve, one of our best off-road runners from the 1980s. Of course, I tried to entice him to come in an see us on a Thursday. This club can never have enough doctors! Chris does a lot of cycling and skiing these days (as he's nearly as old as me), but he looked as fit as a butcher's dog (an Emlyn Hughes quote from a Question of Sport). I'm giving my age away, aren't I?

See you next week at 9.30.

Mick, I'm really sorry about this. Whilst there wasn't a "role-call" as such, a few of us did ask if we knew of anyone else coming - I thought I had remembered everyone who said they were coming, but clearly I had forgotten about your post here, until Jon said when we got home that he had seen you. Not normally so absent-minded, so not sure what happened today.

Apologies again that you ended up running on your own. I know that not everyone uses Facebook, but I think sometimes I am guilty of only checking that and not the forum. In future I'll try to remember to double-check the forum and the facebook page on the Sunday morning, and hopefully everyone else can remember to do this as well so we can avoid it happening again.

Thanks, Jenny. I did say I don't bear grudges, and I don't. It's not for the likes of me that this is important, it's the newbies.

Mick, can I add that I was one of those who thought you were coming (and said so). Others weren't so sure so at 9:36 a collective decision was made to start. Personally, I usually say to people I'm meeting to use the 5 minute rule (others not present wouldn't be so generous). Anyway apologies and catch up soon.
