Even before Dave or Mick get there, I thought that I'd post this one. Marathon training is starting to kick in so it's time for those of us at the more 'social' end of the running spectrum to tackle the col du coq noir! Anyone fancy joining me for the 16-17 miles @ about 10 minute miling average?

It's the British Athletics Cardiff Cross Challenge this Sunday at Blackwier, so you may find a few may be doing this, good marathon training 🤔

David, thank you for posting early!
Having tackled le Coq Noir in a variety of atmospheric conditions over the past three Sundays, none of which were remotely as favourable as the prevailing conditions in Barry, I will be doing the cross challenge in Blackweir.

Just a quick one to say I hope everyone at the club is well.

I have been having a big push over the last few weeks to get myself fit for the World Championships. I figure life is too short so I am also looking for a Monday to Friday 9-5 job to help me enjoy life and focus easier on training.

Things are going great and my miles are building up well. With a bit of luck I can start doing the long run on a Sunday and running at the club regularly. Its great training on the group long run and I find it pleasant and beneficial.

I live with my girlfriend in Thornhill and run past the club often as part of my longer runs now.

I will look at doing a race soon when I get my confidence back a bit more. Smile

Cheers James I'm 39 the end of this month which is another good reason to pull my finger out! I'm getting towards 50 miles a week but don't see any reason to stop there.

I'm simply racking the miles up at the moment which in time will benefit me hugely! It's great to finally get some momentum but I have a very long way to go! Look forward to seeing you soon. Smile

Its when you age is greater than your weekly mileage that's when you will need to start worrying Lyndon.

A reminder for Sunday morning long run for those of us not doing the Reebok Challenge. The XC Women's and Women's Masters is at 12.05 and the men's equivalent is at 12.45 and plenty of junior races before and after. Just time to do Coq Noir, Mick, as a warm up. Seriously, well worth watching top UK XC talent right on our doorstep. All the best for Reebok Challenge entrants.
