Hi All - the following message was received on the web-site today. If anyone is interested, please respond directly as described. I do not have any further info.
We are currently Sports and Exercise Science Phd and Masters students of Middlesex University London and would like to make you/fellow athletes aware of a study that we are currently undertaking.
The London Sport Institute, Middlesex University is recruiting recreationally active males (18-50 year old) to investigate the effects of cryotherapy and/or cherry juice supplementation on markers of muscle damage, pulmonary inflammation, respiratory symptoms and recovery following a 26.2 mile running race. You will be allocated to one of the following intervention groups; Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC); Cold Water Immersion (CWI); Cherry Juice (CJ); Cocktail (CJ and CWI) or Control. You will be asked to attend various sports medicine tests in our labs at Allianz Park on 3-5 separate occasions (depends entirely on your availability) for 60-90 min each time over a period of 2 weeks in the summer ’15. You will be offered free physiological testing (determination of running economy, lactate threshold, VO2 max, total body composition (via DEXA), and lung function) as a reward for your collaboration. These tests usually cost over £500, are routinely utilised by Olympic athletes and will provide information to help you guide your training and maximise your performance.
If you/fellow athletes would like to take part or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact us by replying to this email @
tan59@hotmail.com Kind Regards. PS. Accommodation may be available for those that are travelling from afar.
