Regrettably I think I will have to pull out of the Marathon this year. Due to injury problems my training has been barely adequate for a Half and thats all I'm capable of running at the moment. I'm too competitively minded not to try and get something out of it and I'm going to go down in flames! I need to get back to basics before I take on such a feat. I have lots of respect for anyone who is running as it scares the hell out of me to be honest. I think perhaps I have a half decent ten miler in me and thats what I should be focusing on now. If I run the Marathon and have a nightmare it could throw everything in jeopardy. I'm looking at this as a tactical retreat. I ran a 20 underprepared and was lucky to finish. I think that has made me think twice about attempting this. Its been a bad year so its about damage limitation now.  Good luck to everyone running this and London! You'll be fine Lyndon as long as you don't overcook it! Hope that running the first few miles with me today will help you to hold back a bit in first half.

This is going to be interesting. I've been looking forward to watching everyone's progress at VLM from the comfort of my sofa, but will be there to share this one. I reckon the Manchester crew are currently ranging from 'out for months', to
'might not start' or 'might not finish', hopefully, for those that have trained hard 'pbs' and everything else in between!
I wish everyone all the best. The work is all done by now. My current status is not looking good, but another two weeks and maybe I'll make the start line. If not, I'll be there to cheer you all on and am definitely going to be fit for the beerages after!!

I'm out unfortunately. Was hoping that issues which flared up after my last long run would've settled but they haven't. I'll be there for the weekend anyway and probably come along and support/join you got a beer after. Enjoy the taper and look after your legs!!!

I'm just on the back end of a chest infection and haven't ran since Sunday but thats almost gone.Going to have to have a tooth ripped out this afternoon too! If I can make it around I should still try but its the worst prep for my hardest race so far! It would still be great experience for me. I will have to see how I am tommorow and decide then. You want everything to be bang on and it seems like a huge challenge then!
