On the twitter account of the IAAF gossip have surfaced that plans are being formed to change the olympic marathon from the road to the track. It has been reported due to significant safety conserns in Rio and increasing costs of security this represents the best option for the race. A stateman from the olympic games movement has said that many long distance running events have a proven history of effective lap counting and running in laps. The IAAF have stated at the moment this is only a proposal and being evaluated. Furthermore some members from the Welsh AA have stated that the events such as the Barry 40 have sucessfully been run for nearly 30 years on the track. Indeed it is believed that some of the runners for the olymipic marathon are considering running the Barry 40 as a trial prior to the world half marathon championship. And, for RIO they have had a shortage of volunteers for the events and now they are asking for lap counters for the Barry 40 - so get in touch I bet they could really do with some help.

Well done James. Put a smile on my face on a miserable rainy evening.
