Fancy a trip down to West Wales? The Teifi 10 miles will be held as usual on Easter Sunday (5th April). It isn't the fastest course in the world - there are some undulations but nothing too severe. The fact that Martin Rees has run the last two years, setting world age bests for 60 and 61 year olds, and has entered again should tell you all you need to know. Start and finish at Lampeter Rugby Club - it's a typical club runners event, with around 150 runners. For those of you hoping to make it into our Castles teams - this is a good opportunity - why leave it all to the final time trial? You can still do that if you don't get the required time here. Entry forms are on Sarn Helen website. It's a really nice day out and lovely scenery. See you there!

Some more info as a heads up for next weekend's race. Martin Rees already holds twelve world single age bests for 10 miles (listed below). However, for once, the target next week isn't a walkover - Mike Hager's world best for 62 year old of 56:49 is clearly beatable, but if the weather is like it is today then it will be difficult. The good news for all road running fans is that after a year out through injury - Mike Hager is back. The Tipton man will be 65 this September, and hopefully will be creating more world bests for Martin to shoot at. Legends both!

Vaguely considering this, tho haven't run it past my family yet. Daunted by the idea of a solo drive to Lampeter and back, so would be interested to hear if other Croups are planning on it, and if so, do you drive down on the day, or day before? If you're driving on the day, any interest in a lift share? Thanks.

Happy to come in and pick you up, Karen. I've done this quite a few times. It's not that daunting - very easy down the M4 to Carmarthen then A roads to Lampeter. We can sort times on Thursday - I do like to get to venues early!

Hi Karen
Julie Scholey and I are travelling together to the Teifi 10. As Mick lives in the sticks, it might make more sense if we sophisticated townies pick you up on the way?

The man from Del Monte said yes, the lady from Sarn Helen said yes, and yes, thankyou Clare, a lift would be great. Plan to be at club on Thursday, but meantime will send you a FB msg.

I should be at the club tomorrow if I've got my mojo back - haven't put my trainers on since Sunday - but I'll definitely be going to Lampeter.

Fantastic race today, marvellous weather and lovely hilly scenic route. Martin Rees set a new age category world record with 55.54, knocking a minute of his last year's time. Matt H took the M40 prize in 4th place with PB 57.50. Mark ran 61.46 We took the men's team prize and women's team prize, and Carys Hughes won first lady 66.34. Janet, Julie and Angela also took age category prizes. Karen and Clare had good races too. Times going on the results database now, so you'll find them there.

A beautiful day in Lampeter - Maria would have loved it! We were lucky it was a 12 noon start - if it had been 2 o'clock it would have been too warm. Another Easter Sunday = another world best - that's three on the bounce on what is certainly not flat and fast. So having just lost top spot on the club rankings for Half Marathon, 55:54 becomes the time to beat, and I reckon that course would test anyone. Good turnout by the club and we won both mens and ladies team prizes. My scribbled results: 1. Carwyn Jones (Cardiff - don't know why he doesn't join us, Carys have a word please) 55:37 2. Martin Rees 55:54 4. Matt Hurford 57:50 (M40 winner) 16. Mark Finlayson 61:46 32. Carys Hughes 66:34 (lady winner) 34. Mick McGeoch 67:16 41. Kevin Jones 68:45 43. Richard Holmes 68:49 45. Janet Holmes 68:56 (third lady) 51. Simon Hazel 70:26 56. Angela Champion 72:09 60. Clive Osmond 73:27 71. Julie Scholey 75:54 97. Kate Russell 85:10 113. Karen Chadwell 93:48 114. Claire Johnson 94:18 115. Amanda Thompson 95:01 Well done everyone, including the Gaffer, as official timekeeper. The crème eggs were lush!

Just another observation, especially in light of comments elsewhere on this forum. There was plenty of team spirit today, lots of effort from all runners, and team wins for both men and women. Plenty of camaraderie as well as healthy competition - all motivated runners who were proud to run for the club. Thanks were given to the organisers and marshals - we are well mannered and appreciate what is laid on for us.
And we can eat cake and chocolate quicker than any other club. #fact

Well done all.
Martin wasn't a minute quicker this year though, he ran about 55.20 last year (surprised Mick didn't pick that one up!). When you can run 10 miles in less minutes than what your age is, it's pretty impressive!

You're right, Oli - the relavant times are on #2. Martin's 3 successive single age records at Easter Sunday at Lampeter: 2013 55:04 at age 60 (which he subsequently improved to 55:02 at Cabbage Patch 10) 2014 55:27 at age 61 2015 55:54 at age 62 (beating Mike Hager's 56:49)
