Entries are going very well this year. Jeff has in excess of 60 entries, but I'm sure that we can at least double that number with a bit of effort, particularly amongst the newer members who haven't yet run the 'best race of the year' brought to you by 'the greatest club on the planet'! Jeff is also looking for volunteers to marshal and help with race organisation on the day, please can you let him know if you are available? Just checking the route,when you come off the bridge where Steve Owen normally stands on Parkrun day,do you then follow the Parkrun course to just past the start of the Parkrun and then follow the same route back from there?

So just to be clear, from the bridge, going out and back we follow the parkrun course and not the exact same route out and back?

When you go over the Millennium Bridge then reach Steve Owen corner you continue on the parkrun course. You continue to the parkrun start and turn at the little triangle that's just in front of the steps up to Western Avenue. On the way back you re-trace your steps exactly. So when back at the parkrun crossroads you do not turn to the right, but go back along the parkrun course in reverse direction, to Steve Owen corner. Phil usually puts a marshal there. Great to hear that entries are going so well - ideally this should be a club event where every club member should be aiming to take part - and being on a handicap basis, everyone has an equal chance of being first across the finish line.
It's also a great club tradition which has been held every year since the club started - proof that good ideas are still good ideas whether you're fast or slow or young or old.
So here's the challenge - the record for the number of finishers is 124 set in 1984 (yes, just when the clock was striking thirteen). Let's try and beat it - I'm sure the club has more members now than then.

You are right Mick,it is a great race for everyone and normally when I race I do okay and I am happy with what I can achieve,but realistically I am not going to trouble the leaders too much.
However,in our handicap race last year I had a good a chance as anybody in actually getting to the line first and that is exactly what I did, and I can tell you it was a wonderful experience that will always stay with me.
