A group is heading up to the Beacons tomorrow. Meet at 9 at the club to car pool and head for the Storey Arms. We run up Pen Y Fan and split into a longer route (3 hours) and shorter one. Weather looks good but full winter kit needed, trail shoes, full body windproof, warm clothes, hat, gloves and food. A flask of hot drink is good too.

is it suitable for slow ones ie me, or are you going to thrash the living daylights out of the hills?... I have memories of being left behind (and getting lost!) on the sunday run recently!

It was pretty icy up there yesterday so watch your footing, I couldn't really run on it, especially coming down. Beautiful though!

Thanks Oli - very helpful. I'll bring me Microspikes..

Graeme and I bought a pair each (Kahtoolas) from Up and Under ~ 2 years ago when we had loads of snow and much compacted sheet ice in the Beacons (+ the snowy Cairngorm Highlander Mountain Marathon to prepare for :@) and have been using/raving about them ever since. There are cheaper versions out there (take a peek in Go Outdoors/Cotswolds) but Kahtoolas are designed by, and for, those who take part in winter endurance events
