Thought I'd bring this one up too as we have an Off-road 2015 thread going...

My suggestions would be:
- Combine the 4 rose inns into a "best rose inn time" category, like we do with the parkrun. We could do the same with the SSAFA series then too.
- Add in the Butetown mile (only if it becomes officially timed etc)
- could we potentially have a mile race on the track at some point if there's any way of doing it?? Would love to try it on the track to get a proper time.
- Have a "best 3k" time - could be achieved at the masters summer track events, welsh track champs or club track day

I like the idea of combing the safaa and rose inn into best time. 3k on the track would good too. However it is expensive to hire out Lecwitic which is one reason why we did not have a club track day or an hour track race. However Jenner park is cheaper I think. ( just bring your own toilet paper)

I thought it was a bit strange for 2014 that you could score in all 4 x Rose Inn but not in any SSAFA. Would like to see a better balance in 2015 if possible.

Very much like the idea of incorporating track times into this. Much as I like Rose Inn, 4 miles actually isn't very short, and I think it an excellent idea for the future development for athletes to race over increasingly short distances. It's a shame (and an indication of the way the sport has gone) that they have become fewer opportunities to do this, so a good idea to look at new initiatives with speed in mind.

What about a masters track In the short course. Everyone can run as non vets can run as a guest ?

you could say the best 1500 meters at any event or the best 800 meters..?

in general how about...

the best 1500 meters at any track event in 2015
and the best 800 meters at any track event in 2005..

or should the track be different ?

I think it would be good to include some track races, however offically we are not a track club but there is nothing to say we couldn't become one without losing our identity as a road club or making memebers feel they have to do a track race to be included in the club champs. Alot of long time memebers do some track meets as part of the master memebership while wearing the club vest, with some actually repersenting Wales/Britain. Track can not only add some variety to your running but also help with the road and cross country running. I think some people fear of track come from school games lessons where they taken to the school track and told what event they were going to do. But you weren't fast or that good then you were either last or maybe started walking around the track and messing around. Schools or least my school never realy trainned anyone they just expected you to do it. I think my PE teachers would be shocked if they knew I was a runner!

I thought it was Les Croupiers Running Club, not Les Croupiers Road Running Club? Or are we officially a road-running club?

I definitely agree the track should be included. And James would be the fastest runner in our house - if only he would stop messing on the forum and put as much energy into his training
LOL

If you look under the club section of the welsh athletic site you will seen that we are down as specilizing in road, cross-country, trail and fell running but not track and field or race walking. However I am sure if enought people want to include track and field in our specialism then this something could be possiblily be looked into, maybe disscussed at the AGM. But this should not stop any member from taking part in any race they wish.
