I originally hail from the Wirral Peninsula near Liverpool. I always keep an eye out for any events taking place in that part of the world to see if I can combine with a trip 'back home' to see my parents. Next year an event is being organised from 11th-13th September called The Whistle Stop Tour of Wirral. It comprises of three events over three days totalling 26 miles, similar to the Cardiff Pentath-Run. Details are on the following website: http://www.btrliverpool.com/#!whistle-stop/c1hv7 The first two races will be off road and are likely to include a Royden Park 5 mile off road race on Friday 11th, an 8 mile off road multi terrain race using the Wirral Way between Caldy and Heswall and the final race is the Wirral Half Marathon on Sunday 13th September. The entry fee for the three race, 26 mile challenge will be £48 for unaffiliated runners and £46 for affiliated runners. Entries for the Wirral Tour will open on January 31st and will be limited to 300. The same company also organises the Tour of Merseyside which is a week long series of six events covering 52 miles. This sold out very quickly for 2015 so I expect this one will do the same. Another event that may be of interest is the Run For The 96 5k on Sunday 19th April, which unfortunately is the same day as the Greater Manchester Marathon. This will be run in Stanley Park, which is the park that separates Anfield and Goodison Park. http://www.btrliverpool.com/#!run-for-the-96-5k/c1em3 Edited by user 04 December 2014 09:52:25(UTC)

Thanks for the details Paul. Likewise, I keep an eye open for such races on Merseyside and look forward to running at different venues and terrain. The date of the Whistle Stop seems to be between the Cardiff 10k and the Swansea 10k. The Run for the 96 is during the London Marathon period but should still attract an enormous amount of support.
