I have recently started training my 11 year old nephew. He seemed really keen for me to train him so we went out Tuesday and he ran 1.75 miles. A rest day yesterday and today he ran 1.25 miles completing a mile in 11.13.

My thinking is initially let him run as far as he likes aerobically and see how it goes. I thought that when I start figuring out what he's comfortable doing in a week to gradually up the miles. I didn't think its worth worrying about speed work or anything like that for a few months and just focus on developing a good base.

I was thinking once I get him to run 3 miles comfortably I would run the Park Run with him.

As I have no experience at this perhaps somebody might have some advice for me. All I'm doing at the moment is running with him and encouraging him.

Cheers James

That's exactly what Martin Rees said at the end of the Cardiff Half, that and hard training.

Emma Stepto impressed me in that programme too finishing 3rd lady after just 7 years in the sport, amazing performance!

They both started at 37 to.Smile
