I have just received a reply from Fairwater runners who organize Rack Raid, who said that could be the possibility of one extra team next year. I have to remind them in February. I will do this if the committee is in agreement and if there is enough interest. The idea is to provide those of us who have never run the castles the opportunities to run in a similar kind of relay. It never clashes with the Castles so the opportunity to be involved will still be there. The Rack Raid is only for one day. I e=mailed out of interested and was expecting a no but surprise to receive this answer. I think it would be a good thing for the club to do.

Is this you volunteering to organise the team Tracey? The organsiation of the castles is huge so I think if we are thinking of sending a team to do this then anyone already involved in this would not be available to do this.

I mailed this round the club's committee yesterday evening and the comments back indicate the club would be supportive of this. However it will need Tracey (and one or two other volunteers) to put it together. The usual race organisers in the club are already fully committed for the Castles Relay (and other club races). If a club team is entered in Rack Raid, then the places must go to those who are not selected for Castles Relay. That's important for as Tracey has said, it's a chance for more of the club's members to take part in a relay event.

Good idea this and one that I've suggested previously as it is relatively local and just one day. Speaking from experience, could be of particular interest to those who don't make Castles Relay team!

I would be prepared with a little help (sorry about the pun Tracy) to collate and manage a team of club runners that were not in the Castles.
It is a tough relay though, all done in a day, so very hectic !
