I'm looking to do a long run 23 miles this sunday. see below start time
Prob 8 min mile pace would be fine with a possible pickup near the end.

Looking for people to join me..I willing to do say 16 then plod of myself for the final lap of the club 7 or equally may run down to the start point and make up miles that way..

Edited by user 17 September 2014 11:04:12(UTC)  | Reason: title changed as run start is 9am

I did a very hard 20
On Sunday which is not something you want to do very often! Good for gauging your fitness though. I collapsed a bit on the last three miles but I'm in good shape for a Half.

23 even at 8 minutes is a hard run. I'm going to stick with a careful 16 for now. I might be tempted to toughen things up after the Cardiff Half.

I'm considering doing a fast Marathon next year I was wondering if you had any recommendations?

I probably won't do 23 miles, but I am interested at starting at 9:00 for an extra half an hour run like some did last Sunday. If anyone is doing this, do you meet at the same place at the cafe. I would like to start to further stretch some extra mileage in now not just for the Half Marathon, but possibly maybe doing a Marathon next year and tumbling my pb's further. I have found the extra mileage I have been putting in weekly has worked better for me than the shorter more intense sessions in achieving my goals. I think this is the way forward for me now, even though I will still do 1 tough speed session and a hill session a week along with my easy/steady runs.

Doing Swansea 10k on Sunday so not around, though i would much prefer to be doing the usual Sunday morning croups run up that hill. Going to stick with this route through the winer months as preparation for spring marathon.

Marcus - same start at 9am. Think there should be a few of us there. Would be useful if those planning to do either start could confirm on this post. Aine, Ange and the many others doing Swansea and Bristol - have a great race. The hill will be waiting anxiously for you next week.

Swansea Bay for me on Sunday. It'll be interesting to compare times with Cardiff - and maybe provoke even more debate.
Back to Coq Noir next week but for 16 max.

The jury is still out on the weather. I'm guessing it could be a bit breezy based on the 7 day forecast which could effect the speed of the course.

Cardiff wasn't exactly still mind was it.

Good luck to everyone taking part. I hope the weather, and you are right on the day!ThumpUp

Just to summarise for tomorrow - so far from this post, we are expecting James, Marcus, Claire and myself (plus Simon?) at 9.00 for an extra half hour, returning for the 9.30 start, when Jane and Paul and Ben will be joining, and possibly Lyndon. Just done Upper Boat with Andy Blair and barely noticed the hills in it compared to normal, so I'm sure the hill training is paying off for all of us. Look forward to others who have not posted here coming along, and to missing regulars racing this weekend, have a great race!
