I think this could be an aid for me, the training is done but a little extra focus wouldn't hurt. I'm going to hate myself for doing this but I thought it would spice things up if one or two of us guessed what times we would finish in. I'm going to predict that for the Cardiff 10km I'm going to knock at least 48 seconds off my PB, so I'm going for 37.30 this year. I think I run better with a little extra pressure on it, it might help keep me awake for the first couple of km's where the time is most likely lost too!

I'm going for 45 mins. Cardiff this year isn't exactly a pb friendly course, though it will be nice to run a different route for a change. Looking like the traditional Cardiff 10K sunshine will smile on us.

Swansea is the course for PBs this year as the changed Cardiff course is not fast. However, that depends on the prevailing winds at Swansea which can be a huge factor !! I would like to say I am going to stick with Howard if he's running in Swansea

Hopefully Cardiff is still faster than Caerphilly... So sub 37 for Cardiff and closer to 36 for Swansea! Edited by user 03 September 2014 13:21:15(UTC)

I'm going to go against the trend and say that Cardiff is not as slow as people are predicting. So there's a climb to the top of the lake - but it's early in the race. The descent is later when you should be tired. So it could be like Atlantic College - a course for negative splits. The proof of the pudding will be in analysing the times for runners who do both races, one of whom will be me. I'll predict 40:20 for myself this Sunday (40:01 in 2013). A few seconds slower at Swansea (maybe 40:30).

I agree with Mick, I don't see that the Cardiff revised course will be slower, you won't have the 'sharper' turning points when you come out of the park in town. I guess as i am always round Roath Lake I don't notice an incline there anymore. Not doing Cardiff but am doing Swansea and my prediction is i will finish in time to beat lots of people but not everyone to the ice cream queue.

I am not running both so cannot compare, but i still think you can't beat Swansea for the fastest course, as long as there is no wind. Unless you run well on undulating courses, like Mick the goat of course !! Cardiff could very well be comparable to Atlantic college.

Swansea is my pb but there wasn't a breeze last year. It was very humid. Good luck to everyone doing them anyways (especially Evatt!)

Just run the route, it is challenging though beautiful around Roath and the hills are not too bad. Ev you'll be lucky to break sixty after missing so much track. Edited by user 04 September 2014 15:16:13(UTC)

To beat you ha, I'm going to tuck in behind you all the way then take you on the line, Mo Farah style.

Its going to be interesting to see if I can stay in front of you! No contest against you on short sprints, over 10km I think it will be tight. The further out the more confident I would be. You are a runner with bags of potential!

Now the pressure is on, might cut across Roath Park just to beat the pair of you ha!
All I want is to run well and sneak under sub 40, even though it's so hard quite enjoy running at the moment.
