Just had confirmation and details (given below) from Dick Finch, the race organiser that the race is due to start at 12:15 on the 2nd August. Allow enough time to travel through the narrow lanes leading to the show. Quote:"The Hill Race is listed in the WFRA calendar. It runs from the showground arena up to the Offa’s Dyke ridge, south along the ridge, and then diagonally down the hill back to the showground.
 5.6km/335m.

Like the other athletics events for all ages within the arena, there’s no entry charge apart from the price of the show.

It’s normally a small, low-key race Mike and if any of your non-running members or their family are available to help with marshalling or at the finish it would help me a lot."

I think that entry to the show last year was £5 but is a "great family day out" (Simon Hazel). |

Unfortunately I cannot make it this year....but this is taken off the South Wales Summer and Winter Hill Series and Other Fell Races facebook page....pretty much sums up the event.. Saturday 2 August, lovely traditional agricultural show PLUS fell race! What more could you want? The race is short (3.5 miles) but steep, basically straight up the Hatterall ridge among the bracken, along the ridge for less than a mile and then down a steep rocky path to the showground where glory and the bucking bronco will be waiting for you. Do not miss this unique experience.https://www.facebook.com/llanthonyshow?fref=ts |

Thanks Simon. It sounds like a day and race not to be missed. I'm sure that the weather will be glorious. |

This looks like a great family day out. After the fell race there are countless other events to compete in. Welsh ram (tethered). Long carrots. Novelty cakes......... |

Well done on a great fell race to Dick Finch and his helpers. Thistles, nettles, fallen trees, walls and neck high bracken added to the fun. Well done to Andrew (fast down the hills but for has little skin on his feet), the young at heart Murphys, Mike Davies, Caitlin (second lady) and Scholey. Next year we win the dog race, the 4 person sack race and the rodeo! |

Agreed Richard. A day to remember. Tim (The Cake Man) O'Sullivan would have been spoilt for choice - custard slices as long as your arm for £2, burgers and bacon rolls the size of your face...... I daren't go any further with the anatomical comparisons. Missed a great day out. Lots of prancing horses, bleating sheep, pompous alpaca, .....people galore. A technical run, so I am told .... you walk up the hill, reach the top, scan the view .... stunning ...... as far as the eye can see, then tumble down the hill. Simples. Got to get my membership of WFRA ready for next year. 800m ... old hat.... so last year. Edited by user 04 August 2014 20:20:51(UTC)
