At our last committee meeting we discussed the possibility of some introductory sessions to the track for our newer members. Would anyone be interested in doing this? If so I am more than happy to do this. However, some of us were rebels and used the time of last Thursdays club run to go and do some speed reps in the park (over where Phil Cook has measured out a mile for the time trial)and having chatted to Phil he is happy for us to be rebellious again in the future!!
I can not do a session this Thursday as I am racing on Wednesday at the masters track (which in itself is a great way to start running on the track) but I am aiming to do mile reps and some shortere sprints the following Thursday so if anyone wants to join me for that session you are more than welcome. We could jog over as a warmup, do the session and then jog back.
This is an open invite to ALL members and the more people we have the better as then people will have some one to chase or be chased by.
It is good to have different types of sessions to do in addition to the club run and hopefully if these are successful we could keep them up all year round.

Definitely for me Claire as I cannot make any of the speed sessions any other time of the week so count me in.

I enjoyed the session we did last week and think it would be great to do more of these and have it as an additional option for people who can't make the other speed sessions, or just fancy an alternative to the usual club runs.

I probably wouldn't run them every week, but would be interested in doing some more of these sessions.

I'd definitely be interested in Thursday night speed sessions too. Should be able to make it a week Thursday.

Sounds good to me but I wouldn't do it every week. Thanks Claire

I was contemplating the ten mile summer route but I could be persuaded..... if we retain Norman.

Just to point out that I am not doing them this Thursday because of my race on Wednesday and it is also Tintern Trot so some people may be doing this. I was hoping to start it on the following Thursday the 10th. I am going to do mile reps, but for those not up for that you could do kilometre reps in the same area.

Norman is on loan to Port Talbot ... for a short while, but I hope to be down the club for a run tonight... 10 mile it must be then.

Mike,

does that include speed reps with the 10 ? , I could be tempted to run a 7 min miler seccession with varied reps in the 10, reps stay start tennis courts hailey park,
a proposal reps could be
> two reps in park
> one rep around park before castle cork..
> one rep up castle cork hill
> three reps after motoryway bridge,
> one rep radhar woods (maybe)
> one rep dainescourt
> one to two reps after rowing club.

Sorry James, just picked up the thread again. Your schedule looks demanding but I've had my head turned to the 1 mile reps at the 1 mile TT start. I ran the 7 mile route with 8x 1 min effort with 8 x 1 min recovery recently but the frequency of races during the week seems to challenge the balance of things..... recovery. Racing must be prioritised.
Ran across to the start of the 1 mile TT last night (1.5 mile) and attempted 3 x 1 mile efforts with 90 second recovery. Just to get some perspective on it. Chose a longer route (2miles) back.
Conditions were good and it was fabulous to see the number of people playing cricket etc in the park. Hope to run with the group (Claire's) next week.

Hi Claire,

I'll be up for some of these - not every week as I'll probebly end up doing some of the Mon and Tues evening speed sessions.
Thanks for organising.

I should be there on Thursday.

Great idea Claire and I intend to join in some weeks, depending on how the old legs are after track TuesdaysLOL
May join you Thursday but it very much depends on recovery after the Rose inn !! Hopefully I can do part of the session. Thanks.

Hi Claire,
I will be there for the reps tonight. Can I clarify that this is going to be by the ambulance station in Bute Park and not over the spine road area where the summer series is run?

Cheers
Marcus.
