Marcus, as long as I'm at the start line you need not worry about last place- I've got that covered! It's a great event, whether the weather is good or bad...but expect it to be bad!

Ok, the cheque is in an envelope waiting to be posted tomorrow. I suppose I had better think about somewhere to stay for the weekend.. I'll wait to see if I get a space first though.

Marcus if you're regularly doing 15 milers then its not issue to craank it up a bit further at a steady rate as you have loads of time.
Smowdonia isn't as scary as people first imagine either. It does have a few large climbs but everyone copes and in effect as the final and toughest bit peaks out at mile 24 you get the benefit of running down hill for the last 2 miles (admittedly a very steep down hill bit)! And Snowdonia has a great atmosphere throughout the whole weekend.
Possibly the most difficult challenge you'll face is getting some accomodation booked for the weekend this late in as places are limited in Llanberis.
Don't think too much about and just enter...

Mother of God, they have just got back to me and confirmed that I have a place on the start line.
Now I have to find somewhere to stay and consider sorting out some sort of training plan.
Now it's a reality it'sa little daunting.

Ha well done Marcus, re accomm quite a few of the Croups bunk up in a B&B so its worth seeing if there are any beds spare. Or always worth giving Pete's Eats a call as they have a bunk house which is good value. Heres a link to get you started with places... http://www.llanberis.org/Where-to-Stay.html

I will also put a post up tomorrow asking if there is any room at the Les Croups Inn but I am sure I can sort something out if necessary. Marcus.

Ok, Pete's Eats have replied and they are sold out for the day. I have managed to get a bunk in the YHA Llanberis but is this a wise decision.
It is less than a mile from Pete's Eats and should be easy to get to and from the race. However, will it provide the right sleep for me before and after the race. I have looked at other places within Llanberis but they are all (understandably) full.
Other than the YHA I cannot seem to find anything else closer than several miles away and to be honest, I am not sure I will be up for driving after the run.
Any other ideas would be welcome.
Cheers Marcus.

Keep the YHA booking as your Plan B then go to other places and ask to be on a 'reserve' list - people will drop out before marathon day and will likely cancel their accomodation. Any croups that cancel will probably remember to post on the forum & see if anyone wants to take their accomodation.

We stayed in the YHA in Llanberis when Maria ran this. We had our own room which was fine. It is up a bit of a climb and long drive way - I used the car to go back and fore.

Cheers Phil. I am in the dorm so hopefully that will be ok for just me. I am not taking the wife and kids but I will have the car. I don't mind driving a short way after the race but would have to have to drive miles and miles after it.

When I said a long drive way, I mean it is up a drive/"track", it's about a mile from Pete's eats Edited by user 25 June 2014 16:24:22(UTC)

When I stayed at Pete's eats last year there was loads of empty beds so it's worth keeping it an eye on it. But keep hold of the booking that you have got. Anyone can use Pete's eat café thought. I believe there will be a lot of les croups in Pete's eat this year. I imagine that we will all be meeting up on the Saturday night for food and a beer or two. There's a nice curry house a few doors now from Pete's eat if anyone wants a curry.

Marcus, i can assure you that as soon as you finish the marathon you will recover and feel fine, that is the advantage of putting the training in, it takes very little time after the actual race to feel fine - well fine enough to drink wine & eat lots. As for the day after the marathon i think i am going to try this http://www.zipworld.co.uk/ and after i have terrified myself on the zip wire i am going to try out their newest attraction 'Bounce Below' trampolining in an old cavern. Just brilliant, that will sort the post marathon hangover out.

As we are just over 10 weeks away from this event i wondered who was starting to get excited, not about the race but the zip wire. I am going to book it for the day after the marathon and given my fear of roller coasters and heights I will be dreading this much more than the marathon.
You can either do:-
Zip World Velocity won international acclaim when we opened in March 2013. The first of its kind and the longest, fastest zip line in the world. Over a mile in length, located in Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda, Velocity sees riders fly solo through the skies at over 100mph, 500ft high, experiencing the nearest thrill to flying.
or
Zip World Titan brings you the largest zip zone in the world, with over 8km of zip lines – share the experience with friends and family as you soar over the amazing landscape together (groups of up to 4). Titan, located at Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Blaenau Ffestiniog, will have riders flying high over Moor, Mountain and Mine whilst flying down eight kilometres of wire in unison of teams of four, reaching up to 60mph speed
So who is up for it..........
Think i will book Zip World Velocity because at least the end of my mortality would be quicker if it goes wrong. I am still getting flashbacks from shouting at the attendant at Alton Towers to get me out this f***ing seat before this f****ing ride starts or i will f****ing *************** you. It always seemed like i could slip out from the so called safety harness that never seemed secure enough.
Any takers?
