Yes, you all have a place on the bus. In fact there are about a dozen seats left.

Afraid I'm going to have to pull out of this one - my achilles are still not 100% so I don't want to risk it Sad

Sincere apologies for my absence everyone! Slept through the alarm & was in no fit state for running today. Got a bit carried away last night at the do. Sorry again!!

Apols for missing the bus Sasha - wasn't going to run due to lurgy but couldn't resist the possibility of hog roast

Perfect conditions - provisional results are up - here's the link.

Wouter's is missing though (we finished together) - maybe others also, so best check??

Cheers to everyone on the fun bus who made my 1st away trip with Les Croupiers a top experience.

I was fairly nervous on the day given that it was my first HM but the nerves soon disappeared at the start, only to be replaced by silent cursing that someone had thought it appropriate to make me run up hills!

Thanks to Sasha for organising the bus and Sasha, Kate and Ali for the cakes. Most welcome on the bus ride home. Hopefully I will enjoy Offas 'Orror just as much, however, looking at the photos from Orrors past I think I may have made a mistake in entering this one ;)

If you've got sore legs, (like me), after FoD half, then just wait until you've done Offa's 'Orror!

Glad you enjoyed it & best of luck with the next one! RollEyes

Oh dear.. I am about to go for a quick run to see how the legs hold up. To be fair, they were pretty achey yesterday and only marginally better today. No matter, what doesn't kill me.. you know how that ends..

I received this letter today.

Total fair play - in my mind we should continue to support this great event. I really enjoyed it, and the bus and people on the bus. (Would have been nice to have a few more guys).

Dear James,

I am writing as Club Secretary of the Royal Forest of Dean Rotary Club and part of the organising committee of Sundays HM.

We always welcome comments on how runners feel about our races whether they are positive or negative,
I've just read your review on the Runners World web-site and would like to respond.

Firstly toilets; yep guilty as charged, rediculously few, we changed from the plastic portaloos to the trailers and someone's calculations of unit numbers went horribly wrong. Yes, nicer seats but in all other respects a disaster.

Race number pick up. The same team as last year same tent. The only difference was the tent was rotated through 90 degrees so most people approached it from behind and came in at the side not seeing the signage pointing them to the correct distributor. Put the tent back where it was and have a marshal up front would hopefully sort that out.

The time on the big clock was the race time, time from when the gun went bang, or at least should be. Your net time recorded by the timer ( http://wildboar.racetecr...&EId=1&AId=20088) was 125.02 which is nearer your timing. The net time is the time elapsed between you crossing the start mat to crossing the finish mat. This suggests you took 5 seconds to to cross the start mat after the gun went bang. Does that make sense?.

Headphones - quite a headache. Short of snipping the wires it is difficult to stop. Even those who take them out tend to pop them back in around the corner.

We realise this was not our finest hour and whilst we are here to raise money for charities we can only do this by giving runners a quality event. I can assure you that we will learn from the mistakes and endeavour to keep this as a favourite for hundreds f not thousands of runners.

Thank you and your club for it's ongoing support

Best wishes

Ian

Fair play, always good to see an organisation front up about issues in their event. My opinion is a little less critical than others probably due to my inexperience of these matters.

Sure the toilets were crowded and that needs to be addressed but whilst the queue for the numbers was long it appeared to move quickly for me. However, if the race stated whilst people were still collecting numbers then yeah, that has to be resolved.

Overall I had a great time and will definitely be doing this one again.

Everyone has a bad year now and again. When that is acknowledged and explained by the organisers, we should remember the many good years, put it behind us and continue to support this event.
