Was wondering if the club still does the Tuesday evening sessions at Leckwith? Am itching for a bit of track based speedwork, but struggling to find an outlet.

Good Track Session of 'Descending Differentials' organised by Phil last night. Thanks to Alun, Lyndon, Neema, Gabriella, Jane and Paul for your company.

Efforts with a change of pace during the last segment. For example 600mtrs - 400mtrs controlled/200mtrs fast.

For what it's worth, differentials are one of the most effective ways to train if you have any competitive instincts. Many athletes have no change of pace whatsoever, which means if they have somebody with them in a race with 100 metres to go - they'll always lose. This type of training recreates that very situation - and it hurts! And it gives you a lot of confidence. But - it is increasingly hard to do as you get older.

When I first heard what last nights session was, I stupidly believed it was going to be an easy one. Really tough workout but good fun to and more members should try it as it does break up the weeks training.

Yes thanks guys and Gabby that was a great session. as mick pointed out, a change in pace gets harder as you get older and thanks Evatt for your differential pacing lol. Alun, I also have erroneously thought a session sounded easy, but Phil's track sessions are deceptively tough and they work!! See you all the week after next for more pain.
