Had my confidence shaken badly last Sunday when my long run was a total disaster! Think it may have been a touch of food poisoning but I had to fight hard just to finish.

I think I'm fully recovered and I'm considering doing the Park Run on Saturday. 5km races are so difficult compared to everything else but are a necessary evil. If I can break 18 minutes I would be satisfied with that. I have been practicing doing 3.30km's in training which should help.

How is your preparation going?

If anybody wants to car share to get to Llanelli please let me know.BigGrin

Lyndon.

have confidence. You ran a brilliant handicap 10, you dont become a poor runner overnight and its better you have a bad run in training. Think its is good you did as your chances now of having a bad run in the race are lower ! You are a good runner..

I'm hoping for around 1:22/ 1:23.. this week will be 7th week above 60 miles in a row. And i've been trying to work hard on the hills and thursday night. I was disappointed by my handicap 10 time i was hoping for sub 63 and near 62 but i was never close. I ran a fairly good cross country race (for me anyhow) with first time ever in the first 100, its not much for some but for me is an achievement.

i've not decided my travel plans yet, but maybe up for car pooling - what time were you thinking of leaving cardiff..

Over 60 miles a week for that long! You deserve a good time based on that mate! I think you will do great!

I would like to go sub 80 weather permitting but I suspect I may be a bit short of that. We could finish pretty close together.

I have been consistent but have done no more than 50 miles a week. I have had a couple of easier weeks this week included.

It panics me when my performance drops off in case my thyroid problem has come back to haunt me but I think it may be something that my girlfriend had.

I didn't have a great run tonight either but I haven't got much to lose if I run Saturday and it will be a good test.

I think we would need to leave early for Llanelli as it can be difficult with the traffic. If you want a lift we could discuss it down the club next Thursday, or at the Park Run. A good rule of thumb is to aim to be there an hour earlier than the start.

Hello,

i'm going to give the llanelli half a good go.. but i'd rather not drive up and back alone.. so i'm happy to drive or to travel with anyone else.. who is up for a car pool.

i'd suggest leaving around 6:45 to 7 as the race starts at 9, i want to arrive by 8am..

i've not had my number yet.. has one else got their numbers... ?

i'll plan to run a 5 mile recovery warm down..

I have not got my number either?

I am happy to pick you up and aim to get there by 8am.Obviously the time I pick you up would depend on where I pick you up from so as to make it by 8.

Whatever the weather I'm going for it on this one! If I run out of steam, I run out of steam but I'm going down fighting!

Im up for the warm down but it would need to be very slow.

James I will be at the club Thursday.

My heart rate was a bit high this morning and I have picked up a bit of a cough but I think I should be able to shake it off. I havent had one for months aswel!

Did an easy speed session tonight and it wasnt too bad. I felt strong on my feet anyway after a days rest.

Im just going to focus on being as fit as possible for Sunday. I will run it unless it gets alot worse.

See you Thursday, hope everything is going well with you.

Have you had your race number through yet?

ust got my number today. it starts at 9am, they say arrive 1.5 to 2 hours early. that would be 730-7 arrival.

When I google the distance it says 1 hour travel time.. so i wonder if 6:45 is too late..

sorry this post was from me not claire.. tried to delete claire post then logged her out by accident..

I will be at the club from 6:15 (the larks are not even up by that time.. too early.. !)
and I will leave by 6:30 SHARP:

If anyone wants to car pool please post here
if no one posts (other than lyndon) we will assume no one wants to car pool and wont be at the club at the times above..

Text me if different 07921 824569

Hi James,

I will be at the club for that time (cricky!) and will be interested in sharing a lift/or driving (whichever).
See you later at the club probably.

It appears that I have OTS (Overtraining Syndrome). I thought I was being sensible enough but I think its creeped up on me.

I have been stressed in work, apathetic about training and going through the motions, having poor runs, fearing competition and have come down with an upper respiratory tract infection. All of which are symptoms!

My chest is like an accordion anyway so I wont be able to go on Sunday.

Im going to take my foot off the gas for a bit and revaluate my training. Good job I have caught it now or it could have been a lot worse.

Good luck to everyone running I hope the weather gods are kind and you all run well!BigGrin
