This is a reminder of the problems which can be caused by allowing another person to use your race number; it may seem like a harmless thing to do, but there are a couple of reasons why it is a very bad idea:
Firstly it messes up the results and may deprive someone of the pleasure of receiving a category medal at the event.
Secondly, if you are taken ill at an event and aren't able to tell people who you are; the race officials and medical services have the wrong details for you and for who to contact in an emergency. This will be extremely stressful for them and possibly hazardous for you!
So in short, please don't do it. Most races have a process for transferring or deferring places and if you can't run for any reason please use these.
