Club Off Road Championships 2021. Race 1 10kmGiven the difficulty in setting a clear course for a virtual off road race it has been decided that you can set your own course. The stipulation is that it is: - Not on tarmac or roads. Keep to grass, gravel or trails
- must be a loops or out and back
Off course, this isn't ideal but it is as fair as we can make it. Please forward your results to lcrcrunevents@gmail.com no later than 23:59 on Sunday 24th January. This will be included in the Club Off Road Champs.

Thanks for your adjustment Marcus. I was wondering how you would accommodate this element of the club championships.
As a consequence of this freedom/safety, I can use the public footpaths across fields in the area (with significant climbs) and still be part of the championship. The run into Cardiff and back would have been an issue.
There are the local rugby, football, recreation grounds and parks (not just Bute) in the area, though they probably would not be in the true spirit of "off road".
Still, many off road races use such areas at the start/end of off road races e.g. Machen Mountain, Tintern Trot, Fontegarry etc but these races also contain elements of tarmac, likewise Pentyrch Hill Race.
I don't recall any tarmac at Cosmeston? What about Radyr/Tynant - up through the woods past the quarry and beyond? Good views. The Northern Meadow?
It depends what you want out of your off road run/race.
In addition, we must not forget the Senedd's requirement that you must start and finish your exercise at your front/back door and keep your distance.
Am I concerned that Steve B Lewis, Alan Mason, Clive Osborne, Terry Caveney, Gary John, Paul Morris, Julie Scholey, Jenny Martin ... and others will choose a different (easier) route?
Not really (of course not) but .... dim problem - the quieter the better. At least we can still go for a run. These are difficult times.

Chaps, If needs be then linking trails through small pieces of tarmac should be ok. Also, if needs mean that you have to use fields which would make it more like a XC then so be it. As Mike said, motivation to get out for a run is the key.

Thanks again Marcus for organising this next 'race' for us. I'm planning to go out later today, probably around the nature reserve and Forest Farm, avoiding the roads of course....
It's great to have a bit of motivation to get out there and run a bit harder.
