A BBC World Service broadcast discussing the motivation, preparation,
diets of the runners in a 246km race in Greece, and medical analysis of the
affects on their bodies and minds.

Could you hack it

Thanks, Phil. Spartathlon has been going since 1983.
The 1994 and 1995 winner, James Zarei (Iran) finished third in the first edition of Barry 40 and came here many times as an athlete and subsequently as a supporter. He may well be with us again on March 7th (COVID permitting).
So rather than listening to the BBC World Service, why not come to Jenner Park and learn about it first hand?
Added bonus: always here is Errol Alexis, another survivor from that first race, and who celebrates his 85th birthday the following day.

Tony Cazana has been keeping me up to date about the Barry 40 and Eddie Lee. It would be nice to meet Erol for his 85th!

Tony was at Eddie's home when you phoned to let Eddie know his vets marathon record was in danger. It's a small world
at times.

I heard the broadcast about the Spartathlon by chance this morning, shortly after waking up. I normally wake up to the dulcet
tones of Julia Hartley-Brewer on TalkRadio, attacking all and sundry, but it was a Sunday, so no Julia, and I came across
this.

Thanks, Phil. Julia Hartley-Brewer is not one of my favourite broadcasters. Very right wing.
More interesting for me is Sophie Rayworth of the BBC.
Now 50, she's done some good marathons, and had entered Comrades last year, but was cancelled.
Haven't given up on signing her up for Barry either!
