This weekend we were due to run the first fixture of the John H Collins Gwent League. As a consequence I and few others planned to run an “Unofficial John H Collins Gwent League 1” in the locality.
It would be a shame to miss the series this year and I wondered whether others could remember John Collins’ significant contribution to running in the locality and beyond by completing a virtual cross country distance this weekend.
No hard and fast rules other than it must be offroad … no tarmac … no track…
Just enjoy the “off road” experience.
Do you need to record times and distances..… on an official site?
Perhaps.
Remember the Covid 19 rules and stay safe.

I posted something similar on the facebook page and a couple of people said they were interested too. When are you planning on running as maybe we could do it the same time? I had hoped to do it around Llandaff fields on Saturday Edited by user 08 October 2020 09:47:48(UTC)

If anyone is interested we have arranged to meet at the club for 9am Saturday to do a lap of Llandaff fields which is about 6k. If anyone wants to join us in a socially distanced way then please do.

Thanks for the invite Claire. Glad that there are others on the same wavelength. I had thought of a gruelling 10 km around the fields in Pentyrch but the flat fields of Llandaff sound far more inviting. If I'm not there by 9am ... start without me. Edited by user 09 October 2020 15:30:43(UTC)

Yep. Thanks all for such an enjoyable(?) Unofficial John H Collins Gwent League (1). Can't say I've ever seen so many smiles at a Gwent League before. Team winners - Les Croupiers RC.
Excellent running conditions, the spirit of John Collins was truly celebrated. Thanks to the course organiser, Mick Tabor and Claire for her encouragement.
Looking forward to event 2 in November.
