Hi Everyone,

a number of people have fed back that they are concerned about the safety of running hill reps on Highfield Road because of the volume of traffic and parked cars.

Consequently we are going to move subsequent sessions to the middle section of Llandennis Avenue from next Monday 27th Jan and see how that goes.

We'll obviously still meet at Wild Gardens Road at 6:30, but if anyone is planning on going directly to hill, you now know where we'll be!

Brilliant Dave,

A much better and safer option.

I used to do my hill sprints on Highfield Road, in the 80s. It was one of the traditional hills for Cardiff AAC even further back, in the 70s. After a 25 year break, I did a few reps (hardly sprints these days)and was amazed and upset about how busy the road had become. It was unsafe to use. I've been thinking about a new hill - Llanedeyrn Road is not inspiring, but much safer, Carisbrook Way has a series of hills and Cefn Coed Road is ok. The hill between Llanedyrn Drive and Cyncoed Rd is all on a track (not shown on Google maps, but the lane emerges into Wern Goch).

Very well done to Dave Mc and DaveE for 'sussing' out tonight's session on Llandennis. Much less giving way to traffic than Highfield and wider also. Having compared my times, I'd say longest rep was a bit shorter however this could be due to less steep gradient (I didn't have GPS splits). To make more similar to Highfield need to finish (and depending on distance) start a bit higher.
