James Thie has informed me there is a chance of a men's master's mile (indoors) at Cardiff Met-NIAC on 3rd March. If interested he has asked if you could email him at jthie@cardiffmet.ac.ukEdited by user 21 February 2019 14:40:41(UTC)

Not sure sorry Tracey. I was only told about the possibility of a men's mile. I'm sure if you e-mail James thie he will let you know about the possibility of a ladies mile.

Here`s an email I got from Roger Garland earlier today.... " I see on the Welsh Masters website that James Thie is "looking at putting a masters mile on as part of the Welsh athletics indoor international on 3rd March". I have checked with James and the race is open to all masters - you don't need to be Welsh, but if you are, that's good too!! If you are interested, or you know of anyone who might be interested, please contact James on jthie@cardiffmet.ac.uk to gather further information cheers Roger Garland" So there`s the answer to you question Tracey!

Hahaha. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I turned up. Not only were there no other Croups, I was the only woman in the race, and 3 of the other entrants were going for their UK age group records! Including James Thei attempting to break 4:23 for Masters 40 men. He was 2seconds off it unfortunately. I reckon he could have done it if he hadn't been having to take a detour as he lapped me several times! Fantastic atmosphere, but I did feel like a fish out of water amongst such a high quality field. Maybe next time I'll check out the competition before I put my name down!!!

Julie, Julie, Julie.
How many of them ran Blaise Castle the day before?
No, no, no, Julie. I'm with you all the way. It does sound like an elite event but you were not to know and ...... Club Championship points on the board. It is an issue with track and field events that can deter people from being involved. Perhaps an increased entry may have forced the organisers into restructuring the event.
Sorry I couldn't join you. A brave run...... I hope James Thie organises another event later in the year.
Next track event - The Barry 40?
First Welsh Masters' T&F, 24th April, Swansea.
Spikes ready?

Thanks Mike I must say I did think about withdrawning when I saw what I'd let myself in for...but so glad I persevered. Every single person from the officials, to the spectators , to the other athletes' were so supportive, and encouraging. For anyone who feels a bit daunted by the track events I would say definitely give it a go- it's a whole different world from road running, but loads of fun, and lots of lower key events coming up over the summer to try out. .....you know you want to!

How to put people off track? Tell them they're too slow to run a week before the event and then let someone else run who was going to do the same time as you! I know it's not Welsh masters fault but has made me think twice. But I will probably do the track and field league.

Mike - last week's edition was £4.95. I wouldn't buy it - I'll bring it into club to show you.
