Hi
Just wondering if anyone can share their thoughts with problem I am having with my ankle in left foot.
From recollection the problems seemed to start after doing the hill training sessions last year. I had a pain along the outer side of my left foot. I had an xray which did not reveal any problems. That problem coincided with me having a cold so rested up for a number weeks and pain stopped. Then after starting to train again suffered soreness in ankle area (both sides of ankle). I have been placing icepack on area using anti-inflammatory etc but pain seemed to be pretty much constant even after walking.
From my own research the most likely condition is "tibialis posterior". Has anyone else had similar problems?
I guess I need to see a sports phyiso to get to bottom of problem but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks Carol

Depends where on the ankle you are feeling it. Tib Posterior is on the inside running behind shin bone and attaching just in front of ankle bone. Is it tender to touch anywhere?

Speaking as a Physio I would recommend seeing a Physio for a full assessment and diagnosis and be very wary of anyone that attempts to treat you via the Internet.

Hi
The pain to touch is either side of ankle and if I try and rotate foot I feel discomfort.
Certainly going to see sports physio and will not rely on info on any website but just thought fello runners may have encountered the same problem.
ta very much carol

Glad to hear you will go and see someone. Advice from fellow runners can be invaluable but similar problems can have different causes and it is always important to get professional advice and treatment. Edited by user 05 January 2014 09:53:37(UTC)
