This is your last chance to post a time to qualify for selection for the Castles and Rack Raid teams 2018.

The run isn't a Trial, it is a 10 mile run that anyone from the Club can run, and it is also included in the Club Championships. It is there so that anyone who hasn't got a longer distance time in has the chance before the teams are considered.

The course is the Handicap 10 course that we have used the last few years, but it is a mass start at 10am on Sunday 6th May 2018. You can turn up and register between 9.30 and 9.45am at the Start, but if you could indicate below if you are interested it will give me an idea of numbers.

There will be a charge of £1 per runner.

Start at Llandaff Fields on the main path just up from the Oval. Run up through the park towards Western Ave., take right turn at the cross roads - this will take you past the playground and around to the car park. Keep right and pass through the car park and out onto Penhill (opposite the Half Way Pub), turn right and run up Penhill to the traffic lights and turn right - this will take you past Churchills (1 mile) and Howells School. At The Crescent turn right which will bring you out opposite the Rugby Club, continue along Western Ave and turn right onto the Spine Road in Pontcanna Fields - past the Stables. Turn left along the cross path (2 miles is just before this), and run towards Blackweir Bridge, turn right and follow the river passing the back of the SWALEC Stadium (3 miles). Turn left over the Millennium Bridge, when you reach the Bute Park side take the second path and run towards the College of Music and Drama (as if you were doing parkrun), continue around until you reach the cross roads, go straight across (4 miles is on the playing fields) and follow the path right the way to the parkrun Start/Finish. Just before Western Ave you will reach the grass triangle at the bottom of the steps - this is the 5 mile turning point, keep to the left and head towards the steps, then turn right and right ~ now retrace your steps exactly until you reach the Start/Finish in Llandaff Fields.

The results will then be out later in the afternoon.

If you are not running but can help out marshalling, then please let me know.

Phil

Hi Phil,

I'd like to run please

Croups - I've got a snowballs chance in hell of recording a time to get selected for anything but I enjoy the course, it's a good 10 mile time trial to compare against the Handicap 10 mile. Worth signing up for.

Plug complete, drops mic, exit stage left..

The course for tomorrow morning is described below, it starts and finishes by the gates at the start of the Spine Rd in Pontcanna Fields - Western Ave end. It is a mass start at 10am. You can turn up and register between 9.30 and 9.45am at the Start.

Volunteers could you be at the Start for 9.30am, if you are on a bike that would be useful :-D

There will be a charge of £1 per runner.

Start at the Gates to Pontcanna Fields on the Spine Rd just up from Western Ave. Run along the Spine Road - past the Stables. Turn left along the cross path, and run towards Blackweir Bridge, turn right and follow the river passing the back of the SWALEC Stadium. Turn left over the Millennium Bridge, when you reach the Bute Park side take the first path along the river (reverse of parkrun) until you reach the cross roads, turn left and run through the playing fields and follow the path right the way to the parkrun Start/Finish. Pass under Western Ave you are now on the Club summer route, when you reach the far end of Haley Park you will take a left turn and run past the changing rooms then take a right turn and pass the car park ~ having now completed the loop in Haley Park you will retrace your steps exactly until you reach the Spine Rd, you will do the additional triangle on the left hand side before rejoining the Spine Rd and continuing to the Start/Finish at the Gates.
