Im convinced I was so focused on my pace today that I actually SLOWED down to try and get it right too much and may have just missed out on a sub 18! It would have been my best time since 2010. You can see by my heart rate that I perhaps had too much tunnel vision and perhaps could have stepped it up more.

I sort of felt I wasn't going to get much beyond it so focused on just trying to beat it and tried to keep it tight and then duck it on the last 400m! Who said running is a simple sport. More fool me for trusting a Garmin! Im not a metronome like Mick though so what can I do. Sad

Well it was close so I will have to wait and see as I might have just dipped under as I had 18.04 on my watch! As Mick said perhaps I need to start looking at km splits but they just seem a bit alien to me at present. I will practice them in training. Blink

On the plus side it must be the most even splits I have ever ran!

Would really doubt that your HR is accurate :) I'ts like if you would push it to the fullest you could do 15-16 mins-ish. In reality it should be about 160-170 I suppose :)

P.S. Good effort, hope to see you at Cardiff parkruns next week!

You would be an ideal person to race against as you are running over 10 seconds quicker and would give me a nice bit of competition!

Not sure if Im running yet but there are two Parkruns Phil said. Might be Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

Im saving my 16 minute one for the New Year. Wink

Yes, there will be parkruns on 24th and 25th of December, where I on the Christmas Day I will run in Blackweir. On Christmas Eve I may be running somewhere else nearby, i.e. Grangemoor. Would be great to compete a little at any of these as I am saving my best sub18 times for home parkrun in Cardiff :D
