Is anyone able to give me a heads up as to whether gwent league in Feb (venue still TBC) is more likely to be on the Saturday or Sunday? I'm keen to do Wokingham Half which is on Sunday 12th Feb. If there's a likelihood of XC being on the Sunday I'll find myself a different half marathon. Ta.

I think the organisers have to secure a site/venue first before they can confirm the date.

With a bit of luck they are different days so I can limp around the course! I did a Gwent League and a 13 mile run this weekend so its doable! I just hope the Half comes before the Gwent League otherwise I wont be able to commit at all and will have to jog the course very slowly! Edited by user 14 November 2016 15:28:40(UTC)

Im just wondering if I can go for a PB in Wokingham and then make it to Newport for the Cross Country? It must be doable but quite a tough day! From: Wokingham, UK To: Newport, UK Distance: 107.6 miles (show in km) Time: 1 hr 46 mins Edited by user 07 December 2016 21:53:36(UTC)

I did double at Bristol, had parkrun in Bristol suburb with a pretty decent time (18:03) and then at XC was just ~1 min. behind you :D Also, taking a fact to consider, I also have been walking total ~10 miles from train station to another and then to Blaise Estate, so while you're with a car it's advantageous :)

I just want to complete them all really. If I turn up and it takes me 5 minutes longer im still on course to do them and I have bagged the points!
I think its best to not think about it at Wokingham and to just focus on a PB which has always been the plan. Have a good warmdown and protein shake and just aim to get around at Newport.

Lyndon - far be it for me to tell anyone what to do, but racing a half marathon, jumping in a car and driving to a Gwent League is not likely to do you many favours. You arrived at Blaise Castle with very little warm up, but at least were sensible enough to run the first lap easy and move through. Therefore - I wouldn't recommend it, but should you still wish to proceed, you'll need to warm up an down very carefully.

Lyndon, you're planning to do half? I thought it's just 5K, not 13 miles :D In this case I would agree with Mick - I would rather concentrate on Gwent, though you have many other chances to have a PG in HM, for example in Forest of Dean (March), etc. while just one absence would drop you drastically in the ladder. I think 5 minutes + your normal XC time would also cause you to lose about 100 places, so, therefore, points. Edited by user 08 December 2016 15:46:41(UTC)
