On holiday in Cornwall next Saturday and I just saw this! The course sounds great! 24 minutes from my hotel. Anyone tried it? Can I use my nomal Parkrun Barcode?

The winning time last Saturday was 19.40 with 113 runners and I think im on for around 18ish. It could be my first Park Run win! I dont want to get my hopes up because I could still go the wrong way as the marshaling sounds a bit ropey!

I could just sit on the leader and just go for the win but that wont get me a sub 18. I could try and get sub 18 at Cardiff the following week though. Smile

Just my luck if a better runner turns on the day or the course is long or alot harder than it sounds! Everyone is too fast for me at Cardiff.Sad

Got to be worth a crack though! BigGrin

Lanhydrock parkrun - Weekly Free 5km Timed Run
The Course
The course is 5000m (5K) long. The course is at Lanhydrock House, Bodmin. The course is run entirely on trail paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.

Course Description
The course will start from the top of the hill just past the main entrance and begins running down past the house. The route is a 1 lap anti-clockwise circular route taking in the picturesque views of South Park and the River Fowey. The course begins by heading downhill towards the river, heading along the river side before heading back up hill through lower park and finishing with a downhill sprint to claim your record time!
Facilities
Café and toilets on site.

18 minutes would give you the win 125 times out of 150 races and the course record is 16.45, so good odds!

tough course, up and down, through the woods, on road and across fields. Down hill start and finish.

Here's the course profile:
https://www.strava.com/a...ities/752493986/overview

It seems the ascent there is about 150m - looks like one of the hardest parkruns amongst all. I tought Ashton Court is rough (100m elevation) of 2.5km up and 2.5km down, Lanhydrock is even much harder (and you should also consider uneven terrain). Possible time for me would be around or 20:00, so potentially I would add 2 mins or more to my perfect-condition PB course time, like Cardiff's :)

I have investigated it and it is a hideous course! The flat distance equivilent of 18 minutes is 20.22! 19.40 is actualy not a bad time!

All that glitters is not always gold!

The first 2.5km is sheer down and the 2nd 2.5km is sheer up!

Your splits would have be very fast first half and would then have to drop like a stone on the 2nd!

A technical nightmare!

There is an easier course 30 minutes further down the road so I might hit that.

You have got to pick your battles when you can! OhMyGod

Why not just run it anyway. The beauty of parkrun is to experience runs in new places. You never know who else is going to turn up at any parkrun so you cant look at past results to predict your finish position.

Cheers Oli!

Im hoping to be fit for it at present! Had a headache yesterday and last night and felt really dehydrated and lethargic my stomach has been rough. I feel a bit better today so im going to take the car to work and drink plenty of fluids, got Friday off too. I hope its just a bug and I can shake it off before Saturday! Most likely wont last.

The course doesen't look so bad on the video.

They said its the 2nd hardest Park Run course in the UK! I sure do pick em! Crying

I was 36 seconds faster than the winning time last week. Smile

I finished 3rd. Two incredibly talented young lads ran ahead of me in 1st and 2nd place up until the 3rd mile where I was overtaken by this vet. I had to kick twice to beat this young lad who paced me all the way around beautiful as I misjudged where the finish was! Beat him on the line!

The vet just a couple of seconds ahead of me said he ran 17.30 at Penrose 5km recently!

Disapointed not to win it but well pleased with that time! You cant always have the penny and the bun. BigGrin

Splits
Mile 1. 5:23
Mile 2. 5:51
Mile 3. 7:21
Plus the .11

19.04 Finishing Time.

Looking forward to having a good go at Cardiff maybe next week! Smile

Did they mention the name of the hardest one? :)

And yes, well done with it! If you are looking to finish first anywhere nearby, try Grangemoor or Barry Island.

Cheers Gab!

They didn't say mate. The last mile was really steep, plus you had to cross a field and I was slipping everywhere!

The results were very quick to be fair!

In parkrun terms, Gab has the terminology right - "finish first" - you can't win it when it's not a race Flapper

I assume parkrun gives a right to deem it as you like it and for me it's an individual time trial, but still a race (parkruns are included to runbritain rankings), tho when not everyone actually compete there and consider it as a fun run, it cannot be counted as an official race.
And yeah, running in the company of, for example, top 3 in any parkrun, gives a lot of confidence and experience rather than knowing you can't reach such peaks in official races :)
