This Thursday, after your run, why not join other club members in the rugby club for a drink, some food and a catch up of running events? It's a good opportunity to swap stories from last weekend's Cardiff Half, and also to find out more about the Gwent League Cross Country season, which starts the weekend after next, on Sunday 16th October.

So go on - plan to stay a bit later and socialise, bring a bit of cash (drinks and hot food are reasonably priced), and, if you need any more incentive - we'll have a prize draw for a Run & Become voucher - perfect for new kit or shoes.

Thanks Karen, I enjoyed coming into club last night to socialise, as I haven't done so for ages. The only thing missing for me was announcements. There were a few good PB's at Cardiff half on Sunday and I feel it would have been good to give those that did show up last night a decent round of applause. For me its not always about the medal or the T.shirt but a big round of applause from my fellow club members to share my achievement. I used to find this very motivating and would spur me to come the following week. I'm not a great public speaker but would be happy to do it on the odd occasion. :-)

The fact that there has been no announcements for over a month now has nothing to do with myself and Mick not able to do them, we stopped because there were less than 10 people in the Club so it didn't justify the amount of work that we used to prepare each week. If people start coming back into the Club we'll start doing the announcements again.

I understand your reasons but its a shame as it used to be buzzing not so long ago, not sure where it all went wrong. Maybe if you announce 'Announcements' to start back up on a Thursday people may start returning. Happy to spread the word and encourage newer members to come in also. Lots of members got PB's at parkrun saturday so would be good to give them all a round of applause. Lots coming up with Gwent League around the corner also, I really think its about time to get the Thursday social back! :-) who's in?

I think the big change in people coming back in to the club after the run came last summer when there was no food available for several weeks. I certainly found it difficult to stay down the club for the announcements and still get some food inside me at a sensible hour. Of course, that's now been resolved. I appreciate the effort that gets put in to the announcements and would like to see them return.

Well said Matt, the announcements are hard work to prepare, but it would be really nice to have them back. Of course people should only stay behind at the club if they want to but it can be a really enjoyable aspect of club membership. Perhaps it's worth seeing if we can get the announcements 'back by popular demand'.
