I have to cross some treacherous roads and all of my training is done in the dark. It's worth being mindful that many collisions take place all of the time between cars and pedestrians and it is getting worse as more cars appear. road deaths increased by 4% compared with 2013, rising to 1,775. three-quarters of the increase in road deaths were pedestrian casualties. Traffic volumes rose by 2.4% between 2013 and 2014 - this is the highest rate of growth of motor vehicle traffic since 1996! I wear led blinking arm bands and my girlfriend has just bought me some react led shoe clips to make me more visible which I think are a great idea. I have also invested in a 5000 lumen head light as 2 cyclists came at me either side of a path I was on in Hailey Park and totally blinded me, I thought it was a car and dived off the path! most of the pedestrian road deaths were people who were under the influence of alcohol.
now that you have a 5000 lumen light, you are now going to scare other runners in hailly park

I found myself constantly blinded the other night by cyclists and other runners. I get your point though as the lights they carry are worse than car headlights! With the dark nights coming in so early and my runs getting longer and longer I have to be careful I don't injure myself falling over something. I will aim it low so I hopefully don't dazzle anyone though.
