Thanks Mike. A good turn out by Les Croups and an enjoyable day out with a good atmosphere. Some great performances with pbs for Elio Lepore and Carys.

Interesting to compare today's results with those of the first race back in 1981 where 23 year old Dave James ran a rather impressive 29:43.

Swansea Bay 10 km
25 Oct 81 Men
1 29:13 Stephen Jones (WAL) 04 Aug 1955
2 29:28 Roger Hackney (WAL) 02 Sep 1957
3 29:40 Tony Simmons (WAL) 06 Oct 1948
4 29:43 David James (WAL) 02 Nov 1957
5 30:06 Alun Cole (WAL) 10 Jul 1953

Cheers Mick-I'd forgotten this time I ran many years ago! You always seem to be the font of all knowledge with regard to statistics.

I just find statistics interesting, Dave.
For example, 22 of our runners ran both the Cardiff and Swansea 10km races this year.
Both are super fast courses, and both races were held in good conditions.
14 of our runners were faster at Swansea, and 8 at Cardiff.
Last year it was the other way round.
Well done to everyone who represented the club at either race, or both, and a special congratulations to anyone recording a PB - there were quite a few!

The Cardiff 10K course last year was different (due to NATO summit), perhaps that's why more ran faster times last year.

Sarah, it's because it's the chip time. Michelle will have crossed the start line a lot later than you did. She'll then have run the course quicker, even though you got to the finish line first.

For example, let's say you crossed the start line at 10am and Michelle started at 10:05. If you then finish at 11am, and Michelle finishes just behind you at 11:01, then your time was 1 hour and Michelle's was 56 minutes.

Thanks,

Paul

Mick,

its really interesting the way the results are this and last year. A lot of people said the course in cardiff was slower in 2014 to 2015, but the swansea to cardiff results dont show that. i was 1 min 30 slower in 2015 than 2014 (i'm not as fit as i was in 2014) whist the course in 2014 is without doubt it has more gradient change... but there is a big downhill on the last 1mile or so.. and the hills at the start to they slow people down and get people into a better pace....
