Hi Ed, I find I can attach a graphic from a url, but (& I may be going daft), I cannot find the Check box 'Attach files to this post?', as described in the Help section. I'm sure I've seen the odd attachment before (PDF by Amanda??) I was going to do a graphic on how to help people to do a hyperlink (Oli was asking...) Cheers... |

Write your message and tick the box for 'attach files to this post'. Then click on 'post' and the option to attach a file comes up in the next menu.

I don't see such a box, either. Maybe it's an admin option only? (edited for an after thought) Edited by user 14 October 2013 18:04:38(UTC)

Attachments were only enabled for admins (I hadn't realised).
Everyone should be able to attach files now.
It's a bit unintuitive, you have to tick the box, then click post, then you choose the file(s) on the next page.

Ah, I see... Thanks Ed. If I want to insert an image or an animated gif directly I have to use a url. e.g. If I want to attach a file (image or otherwise), I have to use 'Attach files to this post', but animated gif's only work when you click on them, & they appear at the end of the post. e.g. Edited by user 15 October 2013 16:10:26(UTC)

Yes, an attachment will always "attach" the image to the end of the post. We do have an "albums" feature though, which might also be admin only at the moment. You can upload an image to your albums, then embed it in a post by taking the link and using the insert image button:

Thanks Ed. The albums feature may well be useful to me if/when I do a 'How to...' technical help. I intend doing one for inserting hyperlinks when I get a chance. See if it works... I used 'Insert album image', but I gues it may not work with animated gif's? p.s. is that you atop the mountain? Edited by user 15 October 2013 16:57:01(UTC)

What you've done there is add it as an album image, if you want it to appear embedded directly without the "click to view" message (like you did with the animated gif) you can right click on the image in the album and "copy image url" then add it as an image via the insert image button.
Yes that is me on Kalla Pathar, near Everest base camp. A memorable trip!

Is there anyway of inserting the animated inage so you can see the animation without clicking on it. Neither of the above images are animated until I click on.

There is Matt yes, that's what I was explaining above. Either insert a web link to an image or upload to an album and insert the link to the album image.
