Hi folks,
We've had a plea from Chris Jeynes of Brackla Harriers (copied and pasted below) for anyone to come forward who's interested in running the Elite Neath 10 mile road race, which has a cut off time of 90 minutes. Without more interest this event will be cancelled, so if you're debating running it, please get in touch with Dai, details below.
Tina

I note you’ve had members of your club enter in previous years and I’m trying to convince Dai the race should go ahead.

Dai has said he will reinstate the race if he gets enough interest. Could you have a chat with some of you club runners and see if they would be willing to participate if a convenient date was chosen.

It’s one of a reducing number of ‘elite’ races with a 90 minute cut off, which I think is generous for an elite race.

Please can I ask you drop Dai and email and let him know if you’d have a few members interested in running.

Dai’s email is daibarber@talktalk.net

I think it’ll be very sad to loose this fast, well organised, club run event.

Can't say, I have ever heard of this race. Having "Elite" in the title would probably put me off.

An awful lot of races are 'propped up' by mass participation these days. Perhaps if they were to make the cut off sub 2 hours they'd have more takers and make the race viable. The genuinely fast runners don't lose out - they still get a fast race.

There was a Tonna 10 which ran from the 1970s into the 1990s, and was held 20 times, with Dave Walsh running all 20.

I argee with Amanda. If more races like this altered their cut off to include moe runners then there would be no need to stop the race.
