So what do we all think of the news from Brussels about the marathon proposals post brexit ? There are rumors that the marathon will increase in distance to 50km as Europeans dont care about miles they prefer kms and 42.2 has no meaning to them. So, they are considering either 40km or 50km distance.
They could also increase the half to 25 km or drop it to 20km it is in the balance. Equally post brexit all 10kms and 5kms could be replaced with 5 miles and 10 miles too.
Park run (see Park run Barry) are already considering how to make it a 5 mile event.

Talking of which, there was a nice story in today's Daily Mirror, on page 17, entitled "The winner by a short headphone". Horses will be allowed to wear hi-tech headphones playing music as they compete in next Saturday's Grand National. A spokesperson for the Jockey Club insisted "we always think there's a place for fresh ideas". The decision to allow headphones was music to the ears of spokeswoman Avril Foal, who said "we're delighted!"
