Looking for an inspiring story?
Last weekend was the British Masters XC in Wavertree, Liverpool.
Running his first XC for 5 years was Nick Rose.
He's now 65, and he won his age category, over 6km, by 1:48!
Members on here who are much younger than me, i.e. most of you(!) may never have heard of Nick Rose.
Go to You Tube and print Nick Rose Runner.
Click on NCAA1974, Bloomington, Illinois.
Nick was one of the first British athletes to go to the States and take on their collegiate system, which was and is very strong.
Turn the sound right up and pretend you're back in the 1970s. Magic!

Mick, I attended the event as BMAF X/Country secretary and witnessed Nick winning, I also had the honour of presenting his medal. Although always fit within his role as a Bristol & West coach, he had only stepped up his training 10 weeks previously to target this Championship. He was narrowly second overall in the mixed race, finishing in front of all the 35+ women,(I/e British best) and his closest challenger as you stated, 1m-48s behind, was no other than one time world indoor 1500m 0/60 record holder, Dave Oxland.
