Love
Aspirations, Mole Hills and Cake

On my way back from Brecon GL today I had another one of my moments of clarity.
I got goose bumps all over.
Reflections flooded through my mind and I had to type them down before they dissipated.

As I was clapping, cheering and using my big gob to keep people going during park run this morning,
I reflected that these are not just runners passing me by…..
These are hundreds of separate aspirations and dreams.
Each set of feet an individual challenge in motion
A human river of life willing one another on to new achievements.

Some of them are pros who are scarily fast but others are doing their first ever park run and they struggle to get to the end.
Yet, they do not give up.

Yes, the slower ones might struggle but their effort is no less than that of the pros
and so on and on the never ending rhythm of running goes.

So much of our time in life is spent thinking about what we want and need and do not yet have.
How about we stop for once,
Really stop and grasp with both hands
What is staring us in the face.
Let us be truly grateful for what we do actually have and not what we think we need.

We have the people we love and the people that support us.
This is worth far more than material possessions.
Money cannot buy what we already have.
It can all be gone tomorrow.

“There are none so blind, as those that can see”.

How many people can leave their house and run, jog, walk 3 miles?
How many people have the choice?
We do and we are all extremely fortunate.

We are surrounded by good people who give us their support, their time, their sweat and their hearts.
They do not ask for anything in return
They give us a smile a laugh and a metaphorical cwtch.
Their reasons are varied and true to their own path

A common thread binds us all together
Especially in Wales, whatever the weather.
This thread is true and full of hope
Giving us the support and guidance we need to cope

When we leave the field of Mole Hills and mud
We leave knowing that we gave it our all
We traversed hills and swooped down slopes
Stumbled through divots and tripped through grass
All the time, doing our best not to fall on our arse.

One race ends but another will begin
Another wave of positivity flutters over my skin
I get butterflies of excitement, joy and apprehension
But there is nothing like a robust run to diminish our tension.

Finish lines are crossed and tents are raided for cake
Yummy crumbs and detritus left in our wake

Pats on the back and hands are shaken.
Glimpses of priceless times are captured in pictures that are taken.
Forever in colour, pulsing with the vivid and raw joy of the day
Achievements are claimed and recorded that lesser times cannot take away.

The good old car Awaits with warmth and respite
To Wisk our weary carcasses home through the night

Another fruitful race day reaches fruition but it is by no means the end
It is yet another piece of our jigsaw in our fortunate mosaic of life

So my deepest heartfelt thanks to you all for being who you are
Together we shall continue to thrive, to develop and to win

Our finish lines are where we begin.

Thats really cool Stu!

I used to write poetry and its great when that moment of clarity comes along although I havent had one for some time.

I read a poem recently written by a famous bipolar poet which really inspired me!

I think every Manager should read this and take note!

I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration;
I can humiliate or humour, hurt or heal.
In all situations, it is my response that decides
whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated,
and a person is humanized or de-humanized.
If we treat people as they are, we make them worse.
If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become
what they are capable of becoming.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
