One for the mountain goats amongst us. Shameless promotion of my brother's hill race. A long way to go but I'm sure it'll be a fantastic day out in the hills.

The eagerly awaited return of the classic, big mountain race for experienced hill runners. Part of the 2015 Scottish Hill Runners Championship and SHR Long Classics Series. This is the only Championship race to be hosted in the North of Scotland District this year.

The Slioch Horseshoe Race is a Cat AL race at approximately 12.5 miles 4000ft / 20 km 1200m run under SHR rules. This is a serious undertaking requiring suitable navigation experience and self-sufficiency on the hill. The course will not be marked and you be expected to navigate safely to each check-point. There will be a strict limit of 150 runners due to local constraints. Applicants require a minimum of 3 verifiable Cat AL/AM races in the past 2 years. Exceptions to this are at the discretion of the Race Organiser and Safety Team.

Registration/kit check will be 10-11.30am at Kinlochewe Hall with a Midday start at Incheril. Given the nature of the course and in the interests of safety for both competitors and marshals you can expect stringent kit checking. Mandatory Kit: Full waterproof body cover, warm hat or buff, appropriate map of the course and compass (GPS/phone not acceptable), whistle. All items must be carried for the duration of the race. All runners are expected to understand and comply with the SHR documents 'Safety Guidelines' and 'Generic Safety Rules'.

Hot refreshment and prize-giving will take place after the race back in the Hall.
