Blwyddyn Newydd Dda/Happy New Year!

My main New Year's resolution is to try and change my heavy, 22 year old plodding style of running - which I doubt that anyone in the club has seen, because no-one's ever been running slowly behind me to notice - into a lighter gait, to try and avoid landing on my heels, and therefore, hopefully, avoiding injury also.

Has anyone practiced Chi Running? I've down loaded an app on my phone, which looks interesting, and includes four guided runs, and general information, and exercises, and I'm particularly interested in the mid foot landing which is mentioned and shown in the app, so much so that I've bought a pair of Newton Motion Stability trainers, which have a very clear mid foot pattern, and hope to try them out this week (once I get over a nasty little virus).

There are so many talented runners in the club, and if you have practiced Chi Running, and/or mid foot landing, perhaps I could join you for a slowish run, to learn a little about this fascinating running style?

Diolch yn fawr/Many thanks

Geoff

I too have a similar running 'style' .. People are far too polite to mention it, but I would value advice, having never been given feedback on how to/how not to run ... I know I shouldn't be doing the elephant impression, but I don't know how to start to change. I think I have heard Chi running mentioned on here before, in response to a query I posted, it may have been Alan Mann?

One of our parkrunners, Mike Davies of Nike Run Club, has posted this link on Facebook - it might be of interest.

He says "this is my favourite running technique video. ignore the barefoot stuff - but the running style and drill techniques are brilliant. It has worked wonders for me and my running."

Diolch, Amanda, wow, that's a really good video for a 'plodder' like me to study. The technique isn't easy, I'm sure, but I'll have a go.
