I did this race in 2006 with my Dad. You can enter on the day t-shirts cost extra. I remember it was very hot and I felt like I ran 26 miles not 21. The river was very deep but refreshing and I needed some first aid on my cut knee. You get a nice bit of horse brass at the end. I enjoyed it and would like to do it again. The horses get half an hour head start and you need to be careful as they come up very fast behind you. There is a lot of batter between the runners and horse riders. It is possible to beat the horse and the bookies regular take bets with the price increasing each year the horse comes first. Another good race to do is race the train in Tywn North Wales. 15 miles Cross-country next to the Tywn narrow gauge railway and the train has also been beaten!
