Good luck to everyone running this Sunday. It's going be a warm one! Pleae do not take more than one bottle of water remember the slow ones behind you! One year in London it was realy hot and by the time alot the slower runners got to the water stations there was nonw left and were resortted to picking up bottles from the floor! There are showers on the course and if you're luckly some huncky fire men might spray you with ther hose! Edited by user 18 April 2018 21:16:13(UTC)

Just wanted to add my own thoughts to those above. In the last week we've seen just how cruel the marathon can be. In both the Gold Coast and Boston the weather has played a huge part. But so have the athletes - with world class runners making spectacular misjudgements and losing races they should have won. Very few runners can have the body of an Olympic champion, but anyone can have the mind of one. I'm sure most runners doing London are viewing the race with apprehension. They should be. However, if you run 5 minutes slower on a hot day than you otherwise would have, but everyone else runs 10 minutes slower - then surely that represents success? In other words, you have to be philosophical. I can well remember the other "hot Londons" - 1996 and 2007. Around 15 miles I felt extraordinarily tired, but everyone else appeared to be worse. What encouraged me were the world of Muhammed Ali in his World title fight in 1974 with George Foreman. He said "George, this is the wrong place to get tired!" You may think that getting tired in a marathon is inevitable. So it is, but you can delay it for as long as possible. One additional factor. The forecast currently says 21 degrees maximum. It also says winds from the south-west. That is significant - anything from the west is a headwind after 20 miles. It may be only 10 MPH, but with the heat it won't feel pleasant! So my message is simple - I wish you all sound judgment! All will be revealed in next week's London Pride Awards.

Any fool can run themselves into the ground but to release your grip on a time that you have trained really hard towards to get closer to your optimum time takes real character! A negative split would be a huge achievement if it is very hot!

To answer you Mick...."very few runners can have the body of an Olympic champion" well I have decided that as I am running like a snail I am going to aim for the body of an Olympic wrestler instead of an runner!!! 🍔🍟🍕🌭🍗🥐🥖🥨🥞🧀🍖🥩🌮🌯🥙🍳🥘🍲🥗🍿🥠🎂🍪🍩🍨🍧🍭🍬🍮🍰🥧 Good luck to everyone doing London.
