As you will probably be aware this company has been in the news today for fraud. Please check your bank account and contact your bank if you have any problems. If you have problems to trying to resolving any issues contact your nearest Citizen Advice for help or check their website for further information. If hear of anything I will let the club know, Thanks to Angie Champion for bringing it to our attention,

I had £500+ taken out of my account days after registering for Cardiff half- My bank refunded the money at the time when I reported it , but I had a second unauthorized payment taken for couple hundred with the new card also. When I phoned the bank today to alert them of the possible connection between the payment to Active and the fraudulent activity they weren't really interested!( Although they did agree it was likely that was the probable link between the unauthorized payments) I hadn`t received any notification from Active or run for wales that my account details may have been hacked either. Anyway, as Tracy says , keep an eye on your statements!

I hope that your money is returned quickly and that you(or anyone else) do not suffer any further intrusions and losses.

Emailed Run Wales over the weekend below is there reply
Hello David Thanks for your email. We were surprised to learn, and share concerns around the news of a security incident involving the ACTIVE Network which has impacted a small number of users personal information. The ACTIVE Network is the sector-leading online registration platform provider for mass participation races around the world, used by event organisers including Run 4 Wales. The incident is related to transactions where card details were manually keyed in during the checking out process between December 2016 and September 2017. During this time period, personal information may have been accessed by unauthorised third parties. We are working with ACTIVE to understand the full implications, but have been assured that they have implemented remediation measures that will prevent a recurrence of this type of issue in future. They have also provided us with PCI security certificates, to assure us that the system is now secure and customers can use the registration platform without worry. All affected customers have been contacted, so those who have entered races via the ACTIVE Network that have not received a correspondence should not be concerned. Those with concerns are welcome to call a toll-free helpline that has been made available for customers - 001-800-338-3104. This is a US number, but free to call from the UK. With kind regards MARIA WALDRON CUSTOMER RELATIONS EXECUTIVE run4wales

I had same email from run 4 wales. I contacted Active via toll free number, and they said they had no record of me, even though I registered on their site in 2015, am still on it and have entered at least 4 races via their site. They promised to get back to me (but didn't). I emailed them to request removal of my details from their database, again no reply. A very inefficient company, and worrying lack of regard for customers!
