10k always seems a long way - headwind on the return. Excellent organisation and support. A strong community entry.
Shortage of home made cake at Race HQ, much to Tim and Graeme's dismay.

Results now available.

Funny you should metioned this one it was suggestted yesterday to put this one on the club championships next year and take off the Cardiff 10k as it is getting very expensive and this one is cheaper. There isn't much difference between the price of the Cardiff 10k and the Cardiff half. When I questioned the price I was told that it was to cover the cost of the road closeres but this the route isn't going through the park this year because the council wanted too much money ( I believe this also the reason why there will be no cross country in Cardiff and why SAFFA price went up) High entery prices is going too put alot of runners off from alot races especaialy as it is runners like us that keep alot of races going.

Tracey - today I learnt that Cardiff Council charge £14k for roads to be closed for the 10k. You also get a rather nice T-shirt and medal designed by one of our very own, not to mention pre-race material and a web banner with lots of photos of club members almost as photogenic as Mike Davies

Mike - I love San Dom, but Halibo jellies a poor substitute for carrot cake. Some sections of the course also a tad Rio Marathony - but superbly organised as you'd expect from the 2nd greatest 'diff club

PS 68 male, 76 female finishers today - demographics they are a changing :)

Thanks Mike. I'm not used to the male race categories being 35/45/ etc.

It's a pleasant surprise for returning to a race that has changed considerably from the nineties. A few extra wiggles.

Yep Tim, the race seems to have an encouraging profile for new running clubs, fitness cubs and runners new to the sport.

I've just realised that we did not receive a .....medal, t-shirt,....

Is it an issue? Not for me.

Tim and Tiramisu,

I think Tracey has a point. I don't think you get much of a discount for the Welsh AA membership whereas for the half you do all of 3 quid, for the half it is 12 quid !. And, the entry cost is 1 quid less than the half. So you are not telling me it costs more to organise the 10k than the half !

I know its a local race and to support it is of course fab, but surely as loyal welsh aa members we should get a decent discount.

E.G. in the half it is significant. I fully get photos, medal and all that stuff.. but its pricey. (I entered ages ago so cannot recall how much it was now)..

People from the club will run regardless of the champs or not in this race its local but it does seem wrong no major discount for the 15 quid welsh aa membership !.

Something for the powers that be to consider..and races that you can enter on the day must be a bonus points too

James- twas my moaning about the cost of the Swansea and Cardiff 10ks (outrageous to club runners, but maybe less so for others for whom such a race is a novelty - AND who expect a full goody bag - most my Tshirts end up in a charity bag...) that prompted someone to tell me of the road closure costs problem

No idea why the 10k v HM differential though - the 10k attracted far fewer runners last year (@5000 v @20,0000) so possibly race organiser overheads greater 'per capita' when planning a road closure for the shorter race? Or the charity that organises seeking to maximise funds raised? Vote with your feet needless to say, but the Merthyr 10k would be a fine Club Champs race..

true enough tim,

I think we both agree something about the smaller races you can enter on the day.. e.g. Brecon 10.. and all of Phils races too..
