http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35399598Morning team LC! What another fab day in our lovely Wales. Please check out the link above when you have time. Will only take about 5 minutes to read if that... Interesting reading. As far as I am concerned the topic is a no brainer! Outside kicks arse every time. However, their comment about the 1% incline was interesting. I am doing 2% on the treadmill as standard and that definitely feels much more like the sensation in the legs you get from outside. 1% is nothing like the feeling in legs from running outside. Their comments about wellbeing and balance from running outside are true though. Anyway, that's it. Just thought it was interesting reading. I love learning all I can about running. Peace out and take care with your running.

from this article I learned (a) that off-road is the way to go, (b) that outside is a winner (even looking out the window right this moment, contemplating my tempo run in the pouring rain) and (c) that the BBC needs to be taken to task in its use of Americanisms. Curb? Curb?!

I for one advocate the use of treadmills sometimes called " Dreadmills ". They enable you to run at a given pace up to one hour, with no fluctuations in speed. This I have found through experience very useful as a base line. Pick a pace you want! any pace! set the TM and off you go, build that time up. Repeat a few times, get comfortable with that consistent pace then transfer that to outdoors.
A lot of people say its boring, if that's the case, break it down into manageable segments, 5k at first 6k and so on when up to 10k, try and keep the second 5k the same as the first. It's a great training aid, don't ignore it.

Treadmills can be useful if your recovering from something but want some gentle excersise to keep yourself fit.
I personally think It's much better to run outdoors though.
