Hi all, HR monitor stopped working a few weeks ago. I replaced the battery today, making sure to discharge the unit fully before inserting the new battery.
Forerunner 410 picked up the signal straight away when I turned it on but it's giving high and sometimes erratic readings. Tends to settle to around 15-20% out e.g. 51 for a real HR of 43. It's not the watch as I checked on my Edge 510 and it's matching beat for beat.
It randomly surges from time to time and at one point it got to 160+. I know this isn't real as my heart doesn't do that flat out running, never mind flat out on the sofa.
I'll try rinsing the strap (yes - having removed the unit first) and cleaning the contacts but does anyone else have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Mine has done this a few times and is always rectified by washing the fabric strap.

I could dig out the heart rate monitor that came with my 410 - which seems to be totally surplus to my requirements and see if that is any use to you Steve? It hasn't seen any action in almost two years...You would be most welcome to it.

Thanks both.
I'll try giving it a better wash but failing that, I may take you up on your kind offer Ali.

I have a Garmin HR monitor that was used only a couple of times which you're welcome to, too, Steve....if I can find it. It was in good condition, just couldn't get in to the habit of using it

have you warmed up enough. my heart rate shoots up to 180 in the first 10 min then goes down to 110. you could give yours to let someone else use to see the results.

Is the strap thoroughly wet? It needs to be to get a good electrical connection. It also helps stop it from falling down off your chest. |
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!
